Create an IRS Account
Creating an IRS account will give you access to making payments, seeing transcripts as well as obtaining your IPPIN.
Step 2: Retrieve Your 6-Digit Code
Once your identity is verified and you are logged into your IRS Online Account:
Look for the "Profile" tab in the navigation menu.
Scroll down to the section labeled "Identity Protection PIN (IP PIN)."
Click the link to view/retrieve your PIN.
A 6-digit number will be displayed. This is the code I need to file your return.
Step 1: Create Your Account
Go to irs.gov/ippin and click the button that says "Get an IP PIN."
You will be prompted to sign in with ID.me.
If you don't have an ID.me account: Click "Create an account" and follow the prompts.
What you’ll need: A valid email address, your Social Security Number, and a government-issued photo ID (like a Driver’s License or Passport).
Verification: You will likely be asked to take a "video selfie" with your phone to verify that you are who you say you are.
