IRS:

Refund: To check on the status of your refund click the above button. You'll need the primary taxpayer social, the filing status of the return in addition to the refund amount before you're able to use this tool. This is the only non-IRS account tool to check on your refund other than calling the IRS (this includes for your income tax preparer as there are no hidden tools for them to check on your return). If you want to try calling the IRS, you can call 1-800-829-1040 and reference our instructions for the best chance of reaching a representative.
IRS Payment: This section deals with all online payments to the IRS. Note that "Direct Pay" button takes the payment directly from your bank account without charge. The "Debit or Credit" button has fees that are described therein.
Once clicking on your payment method and "Make a Payment", you'll see three boxes to fill out to be sure your payment goes to IRS for the correct purpose.
The four most popular options are for installment agreements, balance due, extension and estimated tax.
For Balance due and installment agreements you'll need to select Apply payment to "Income Tax -1040". Then you'll select the Tax year for which you're making the payment. Click continue. After which the IRS will guide you through the rest of the process of verifying your identity and making the payment. If you can't verify your identity here, you'll need to go to IRS.gov/Account to create an account and make a payment.

IRS Transcripts: There are multiple ways to obtain transcripts.
1) The quickest method is to click the above "Create IRS Account" button and get your transcript online.
2) You can click the below button and get an IRS Transcript mailed to you (assuming you have it mailed to the mailing address on your previously accepted return.
3) You can make an appointment with your local IRS office. For Evansville that number would be 844-545-5640.
4) We no longer recommend calling the IRS to obtain your transcript due to a lack of phone staffing. However, if you choose to attempt this method call the general IRS number at 1-800-829-1040.

Setup Installment Agreement: There are many ways to setup an installment agreement with the IRS. The first way is to call the IRS on the IRS notice or IRS bill you have received. If you haven't received a bill and you'd like to setup a payment plan online, can create an account and setup an installment agreement

INDIANA
This is our most commonly prepared state. However, there are similar resources for most states.
Indiana update: Indiana has combined their services to the above link. Once you go to the above link the 3 main options for most clients are below.
Indiana State Refunds: Once you click the above link, ou can enter your information to get an update on your refund status. This is the only method for getting an update on your refund status. If you call our office, this is what we would do. Going online here keeps you from having to wait on hold with us.

Indiana State Payments:
Note Indiana has their own set of instructions located DOR: Payments and Billing. Below is a summary of some of the more used items.
Current year return tax due and estimated payments:
You will first left-click the above “Indiana State Online Resources” link. This will take you to the IN website. You'll next left-click “make a payment” under the “Payments” heading. For the two primary payment types (tax due provided by your tax preparer and estimates for the following year), you will make the selection under “Non-Bill Payments”. (NOTE: Pay attention to the fees they'll charge.)
After this you'll select Individual. Then click next. On the next page fill out your social and personal information. Then the bottom of the page is where you select your payment type.
To make a payment for a tax return using the amount on the voucher provided by your tax preparer. You'll select “Return Payment”. Then click next and enter your payment information. You then select the tax period you're making a payment for. This is for the tax year (generally will be 12/31 of the previous year). Note: Your voucher tells you the tax period to make a payment for. It's toward the bottom left just beside “Period end date”.
To make estimated payments for the current year (quarterly payments that pay tax for the upcoming tax return). You'll select “Estimated Payment and select the county you lived in January 1st. You will then enter your payment information.
For both payment types you'll want to make a copy of the confirmation number provided by the state.
NOTE: If you're paying an amount based on an Indiana notice/letter you've received, you will select an option under Bill payments. Then you'll follow many of the same procedures as above.

The IRS has a new requirement for companies that have an EIN (with a few exceptions). For companies registered before 1/1/24, you have until 12/31/24 to register. For newly registered companies, you have 90 days to register.
More information can be found at the above link. To register you’ll need information regarding the reporting company and identifying information on “beneficial owners”.
For the reporting company you’ll report the legal name and DBA name, address of principal place of business, the Tax ID number (EIN) and state the business was registered.
For the beneficial owners you’ll need Name, Date of Birth, Address and an image and ID number from a state or federal ID (passport or driver’s license will take care of most filings).
